Ongar Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v West Essex on Sat 20 Jun 2009 at 1.00pm
Ongar Cricket Club Lost by 110 runs

Match report It was pretty much 'same old, same old' as Ongar turned up, played badly and went home! Just to fill those of you who might be interested with a bit more detail, although I must admit its getting pretty tedious writing the same old stuff every week, here goes.

Ongar lost toss. West Essex batted, made 234-7dec from 47.3 overs with our old friend Irfan doing the damage. And No Coles didn't drop him again this year. And yes Coles did get reminded of it about fifteen thousand times, thank you! Anyway as I was saying, Riaz climbed into his favourite Ongar attack, wounding Madcock's right hand in the process after only 3 overs. So no more bowling, batting, fielding and w......! Sorry can't say anymore in case his Mum reads this. So with Ongar one bowler short Blake had to take more of the burden than normal and bowled unchanged at the pavilion end for 24 ov. 3-88. At the other end the only other successful bowler was Jamie who finished with 3-63 from his 10.3 overs. Good work by Sam Adders took care of the West Essex no. 3 for 0 run out. As for the catching, well, Blake took a fine diving catch at cover point and that was that. As for the dropping, well, let's just say that as a team we were rubbish, without mentioning any names, the individuals in question will know who they are, isn't that right Joe and Kevin! If anyone needs any tips just ask Adders who took any absolute screamer diving full length to his right, just in front of the car park. Shame he's only the groundsman!

Easily Ongar's most consistent performer Lou's Cafe, provided another fine spread of sambo's, after which Ongar proved yet again that they in fact don't bat all the way down to no. 11 or indeed anywhere much in between. The only exception is Jamie who once again top scored with 35, Dan Shutts chipped in with a swiftly made 34 and the next highest score was 8! Oh, I forgot the extras (24) sorry. Ongar all out for 124 in only 29.5 ov. A new word for everyone this week, application. No I didn't think the Ongar batsmen would know what I was talking about. I'll save you the trouble of looking it up...
Application : ability to apply oneself, give one's attention to.
We really should try it some time.

Ongar take on promotion chasing Standford Le Hope next week with Madcock as a serious injury worry (or just a serious worry, for his parents!) I believe he will give his hand a thorough fitness test on Friday night......on his Play Station 3!!
