Match report Once again, Ongar took to the field with only 10 men led by Club Captain, Dean Mitchell.

Lee "the stats speak for them self" Paris took the new ball and bowled superbly ending with figures of 2-52 from 16 overs. With a bit more luck, Lee could have had at least another couple of wickets. Lee was ably supported by Sam Sweeting 1-38, Steve Adcock 1-48 and Dean Mitchell 1-38.

Despite some excellent fielding by the 10 men, including a run out by Leo Wing, Billericay's middle order pulled the innings together to allow them to declare in the 44th over at 177-6. In the end, the 'missing' man proved to be the difference.

Ongar lost an early wicket but Ross 'Doobers' Darby dug in and made a solid 39. Adders appeared to be putting away the Billericay spinner with ease but skied a long hop back to the bowler. The Chairman, coming out of retirement again, played some nice shots before being trapped in front for 12 and Dean Mitchell also played well making 24.

That apart, know one else troubled the scorers and the Ongar innings fell away dramatically as we have all seen far too often. Billericay were only one wicket away from victory before a heavy shower halted proceedings during the last 20 overs. A total of 12 overs was lost which meant that Ongar had to last 5 overs and 2 balls to earn a draw but they only managed to last 4 balls following the resumption of play.

Billericay deservedly won a very sporting game by 57 runs.
