Match report It was off to the seaside as Ongar made their way to Southchurch Park , home of second placed Old Southendians.

Ongar won the toss and inserted the home side. Ongar bowled and fielded well, but were unable to stop the home Batsman from scoring freely. The hosts declaring after 46 overs with 228-6 on the board. Ongars wicket takers, were Rakesh 2-28, Brad 2-57, Powelly 2-48 and golden arm Danny Shutts 1-18 from his four overs, including the prize wicket of aussie Jordan who had batted superbly scoring 56 from just 31 balls. Ongar had once again supported their Bowlers well in the field. The highlight this week from The Skipper, who fielding at mid one, sprinted around to mid wicket to take a breathtaking one handed diving catch with the ball inches from the ground. A definite candidate for catch of the Season. Feeling particularly pleased with himself, he proceeded to produce a running diving celebration, head first across the Outfield!

After tea, Ongar were soon in trouble, with Danny Shutts and Madcock both being dismissed cheaply. However Nick Suker (40) and Stick (57) both batted well, and Ongar looked to be in with a shout, with 120 need from the last one hour plus 20 minutes. However, the runs were to dry up on the introduction of the Old Southendians paceman, Jordan , who immediately removed Nick. Ongar were able to muster their highest score of the season, but failed, in the end to make a serious challenge, with their innings closing on 157-7 from their 59 overs. Big Dave finishing unbeaten on 26 and Lovey (0) being adjudged LBW off the last ball of the match. Ask him about it, I'm sure he will be happy to discuss it........or not!!

So, Ongar were able to draw the match, the first time this season, that they had not tasted defeat!
