Match report
The Village held its annual carnival and the OGB's decided that this was also the day that the circus came to town!
The day went from bad to worse for the village skipper Stick when the OGB's Club Captain called correctly and promptly dismissed calls for the 'best of three'. Needless to say, Village were invited take the field on a rare hot afternoon and soon found themselves chasing the leather to all parts of the village including some of the roof tops!
The village skipper generously dropped what can only be described as a 'sitter' and the OGB's opening pair took full advantage and began to take control before loosing in form Nick Suker for 9. Nick's opening partner Tony Brown, who no longer classes himself Australian, soon followed after a quick fire but entertaining 29. This brought together the Aussie boy band pairing of Matt and Luke who smashed many a roof top as they piled on runs for fun. How village wished they were playing for them instead of against them.
Luke outscored Matt and the beard was first to reach his 50. Shortly after, the beard misjudged a simple second and was run out by a village mile. Shortly after, Matt promptly reached his 50 and then raced towards three figures with Nobbler playing a supporting role who punched 31 quick ones himself. With the overs running out fast, Matt plundered another half century to finish unbeaten on exactly 150.
Having set village 302 to win, they soon found themselves in trouble loosing three quick wickets, including that of skipper Stick. Wickets continued to fall throughout the innings, the only resistance coming from Kings Cross (or was it Charring?) as village insisted to give the OGB's some catching practice.
The pick of the OGB's bowling without a shaddow of a doubt was Thackers who bought his couple of wickets for a mere 90, just missing out on a century of his own. In the bargin, he also gave village another 4 overs as their 12th man 'Wides' almost caught up with Criss Cross. Despite some hefty blows from the tail end, village finished 38 runs short and the OGB's registered a rare victory!
