Match report Ongar 1st XI set sail on her maiden voyage of the 2005 season in typical disastrous fashion, having made the
long and arduous journey to Southend on Sea, with only 9 players! In weather more akin to December than May,
Ongar won the toss and elected to bat and were soon in deep water. Only the classy Steve Reynolds was able to
keep his head above water with 42 out off a paltry 93 all out. He was infact the only batsman to register double
figures.
Ongar faired little better after tea, only the impressive Mario on his first XI debut able to take a wicket, having the
dangerous Malik ct behind down the leg side by stand in keeper Maguire, several dropped catches not helping in
what was already an impossible situation. Southend on Sea wrapping up the game in fine fashion in 12 overs,
with a succession of boundaries.
