11 Nov 2009 : 'Freddie' Flintoff backs Ongar CC in 2010
'Freddie' Flintoff backs Ongar CC in 2010Cricketing superstar England & Lancashire all rounder Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff yesterday backed Ongar Cricket Club wishing us all the best going into 2010.

At a book signing event in London 'Fred' signed over 300 books but took time out to wish OCC all the best. When asked if he was available to play for Ongar on any Saturdays in 2010 the big man replied "Probably not", which is more positive than "definitely not" Perhaps a Suker Sunday tea might persuade him?

The signed copy of "Ashes to Ashes" has been donated to OCC and will be auctioned or raffled in order to raise much needed funds for new infrastructure.

30 Sep 2009 : OCC AGM
OCC held its AGM on 30/09/09 and it was good to see over 20 members attend.

There were not too many changes to the current set-up.

However, David Coles, or Stick as he is affectionately known, takes over the role of Club Captain from Peter Ellis.

Mark Suker takes on the role of Colts Manager. A colts section is essential for long term viability of OCC and I hope we can all help and support Mark in resurecting the colts section.

Jas Chaggar takes over the role of assistant secretary, again from Peter Ellis.

Matt Reynolds is the new vice captain for the 1s and Sam Sweeting the new vice captain for the 2s. Sam is also the new club representative.

The battle got under way with Ongar taking the field.
With the score on 30-1 the heavens opened and an early lunch was taken. Sadly this was to be the final action of the game as it absolutely poured down and the match was abandoned.

Thanks were given to the President for arranging the day, the caterers and those who provided raffle prizes.

13 Mar 2009 : New Shirt Sponsors
New Shirt SponsorsFollowing the successful acquisition of not one, but two new sponsors by our First XI Skipper and Honorary Secretary extraordinaire (he forced me to write that!)Rakesh Bagga I am delighted to announce that Ongar Cricket Club will now be acquiring new shirts and, for the first time, fleece slipovers.

Both will include our new sponsor’s logo’s (Co Operative Pharmacy and accident claims specialist Essential Claims Ltd) and under the terms of our agreement with both companies the shirts will be worn for all OCC matches.

The cost of the new kits will be subsidised by the sponsorship agreements which means that the shirts will be just £8 and slipovers £10

Both will need to be ordered by the 20th March to enable delivery by the start of the 2009 season and so I would be grateful if you would make your choices asap.
